CVWD reminds customers to be wary of possible scams

Customer Paying Bill at the Customer Service Desk

Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) is reminding customers to be wary of possible scams involving people misrepresenting themselves as district personnel.

Recently a customer reported receiving a call from someone who identified themselves as being with CVWD and requesting a payment by phone. When the customer said he would instead come to a CVWD office to make the payment, the caller became agitated.

If a customer has concerns about whether a person is affiliated with CVWD or whether work is authorized by CVWD, they can call CVWD at 760-391-9600. In addition, all CVWD personnel carry identification.

The Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency governed by a five-member board of directors. The district provides domestic and irrigation water, agricultural drainage, wastewater treatment and reclamation services, regional storm water protection, groundwater management and water conservation. It serves approximately 108,000 residential and business customers across 1,000 square miles, located primarily in Riverside County, but also in portions of Imperial and San Diego counties.
