CVWD earns accolades for outstanding financial reporting

Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) has been honored with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

“The report reflects the District’s and Finance Department's commitment to transparency so that we can uphold the trust of our community and those who invest in the District,” said Director of Finance Richard Aragon.

According to the GFOA, “the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.” To receive this award, CVWD prepared an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report that demonstrated “a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story.”

CVWD has received GFOA awards for the past ten years, beginning fiscal year ending June 30, 2012.

Review the ACFR at CVWD's website, www.cvwd.org/FinanceInfo. Printed copies are also available for review at the District's Steve Robbins Administration Building in Palm Desert.

The GFOA uses an independent panel to examine the financial documents of award candidates. Members include those who prepare financial statements, independent auditors, academics and other finance professionals

The GFOA, founded in 1906, is a nonprofit professional association with more than 21,000 federal, state, and local government finance professionals as members throughout North America, including representatives from CVWD. GFOA’s mission is to advance excellence in government finance.

Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency governed by a five-member board of directors. The district provides domestic and irrigation water, agricultural drainage, wastewater treatment and reclamation services, regional stormwater protection, groundwater management, and water conservation. It serves approximately 113,000 residential and business customers across 1,000 square miles, primarily in Riverside County and portions of Imperial and San Diego counties.
