CVWD announces early completion of Highway 86 Pipeline Project

Construction on the Highway 86 Pipeline Project – which will bring high-quality drinking water and improved fire protection to East Valley communities – has been completed four months ahead of schedule, the Coachella Valley Water District has announced.

“We're happy to announce the bulk of the construction for the Highway 86 Pipeline Project went effortlessly, wrapping up last week,” said Steve Robbins, CVWD General Manager-Chief Engineer.

Crews will continue with finish work, such as paving and painting, on the shoulder of Highway 86, from 74th Ave. to 58th Ave., through early November. All traffic lanes will remain open. Businesses and residents along the portion of Highway 86 where the pipeline was installed will have continued access. Originally, the project was scheduled to be completed in February 2009.

Communities benefiting from the installation of the Highway 86 Pipeline are Valerie Jean and Oasis, including the new Oasis Elementary School.
