One lane of traffic and the bike path will be closed on westbound Avenue 52 between the Silver Rock Resort and Washington Street in La Quinta July 23 and continuing to August 6.
Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) contractor, T.E. Roberts, will be installing new irrigation lines, expanding delivery of Colorado River water for irrigation to the La Quinta Civic Center. This new pipeline will also increase the capacity of the existing line allowing, for golf courses to use 80%, or more, of Colorado River water rather than pumping groundwater.
Closures will be in effect 24 hours a day for safety reasons. This work is expected to be completed within nine months.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution and to expect delays when driving past the work zone and to avoid the area if possible.
