Steve Bigley, director of environmental services for Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD), has been named to a second term as president of the Western Coalition of Arid States (WESTCAS).
Formed in 1992, the grassroots organization is dedicated to encouraging the development of water programs and regulations which assure adequate supplies of high quality water for those living in the arid regions, while protecting the environment. WESTCAS has current members in California, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Texas.
Bigley also serves as chair of the Policy Committee for WESTCAS.
In his role with CVWD, Bigley has spent 30 years filling water resources management and water quality regulatory compliance roles. He has served on workgroups and committees for the National Drinking Water Advisory Council, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Water Research Foundation evaluating drinking water issues. He also is vice chair of the Association of California Water Agencies Water Quality Committee.
