Coachella Valley Water District’s Operating and Capital Improvement Budget for fiscal year 2022 has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.
CVWD has received GFOA awards for the past nine years beginning fiscal year 2012.
To earn the award, CVWD had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communication device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
One judge praised CVWD’s budget document, writing, “The budget includes a good discussion about long-range financial plans for operating budget including forecasts, trends or other data reflective of the district operating budgets for at least three years beyond the budget period.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association with more than 21,000 government finance professionals as members throughout North America, including CVWD representatives.
