Traffic Alert – Monterey Ave

CVWD News Posted on October 29, 2024

CVWD’s nonpotable pipeline contractor, Weka Inc., has transitioned to night work and is expected to last two to three weeks.

Construction hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Closures are marked, and two southbound lanes are closed during work hours on Monterey Ave. between Frank Sinatra Dr. and Country Club Dr. in Palm Desert. See detour map.

One lane remains closed during the daytime. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

The project will allow the expansion of the NPW Pipeline system to maximize the use of recycled water instead of pumping groundwater for irrigation. This safeguards the Coachella Valley groundwater basin for future generations. In addition, it addresses long-term water management goals to maintain water reliability by increasing the supply of recycled water, source substitution, and water efficiency across all customer sectors.

Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency governed by a five-member board of directors. The district serves the community with domestic water, agricultural irrigation and drainage, wastewater collection and treatment, nonpotable and recycled water, regional stormwater protection, groundwater management, and water conservation. It serves approximately 114,000 residential and business customers across 1,000 square miles, primarily in Riverside County and portions of Imperial and San Diego counties.
